2007-11-05   3-7   Guy Davis' Traveling Blues
(Noon performance CANCELED)
  The award-winning Blues guitarist, banjo, harmonica player and vocalist Guy Davis will take audiences on a tour of the Blues, performing works of the great Blues masters, woven through with African-American tales, and his own original songs and stories.
2007-11-08   K-4   The Velveteen Rabbit   "When a child loves you for a long, long time...then you become Real." So says the Horse to the Velveteen Rabbit in Margery Williams' famous and much-loved literary classic. A plush rabbit, given as a gift to a young boy, yearns for the day the boy will choose him as his special playmate, so that he can become real.
2007-11-30   K-5   Flat Stanley   Stanley Lambchop is your normal, every day, run-of-the-mill kid. He's nothing out of the ordinary. But one night while he's sleeping, the bulletin board on the wall above his bed come loose and falls - right on top of Stanley!
2007-12-06   K-3   Leo Lionni's Swimmy   Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia’s latest production is drawn from Leo Lionni’s exquisitely crafted Caldecott Honor books, Swimmy, Inch by Inch and Frederick. Swimmy is a tiny fish who uses ingenuity to fend off danger. Frederick, a poetic mouse, makes everyday life an artful experience. A lovable inchworm shares his facility for measuring absolutely everything.
2008-02-13   9-12   Wrecked   Wrecked tackles the issues of alcohol abuse in the lives of teenagers and their families with intelligent humor, subversive wit and candid reality. Through innovative staging and contrasting performance styles, the play presents two perspectives: teenagers as victims of parental alcohol abuse and teenagers themselves as abusers.
2008-02-19   K-2   Harry the Dirty Dog   Harry has everything a little white dog with black spots could want. There’s just one problem: he hates taking baths. He hates them so much, in fact, that one morning he runs away. After a wonderful day spent playing in the dirt, Harry gets so grubby that he turns into a little black dog with white spots…and returns home to find that his family doesn’t recognize him!
2008-03-03   3-7   The Mystery of King Tut   Egyptian history comes to life in this fascinating musical adventure, linking Tutankhamen and the man who made him famous, archaeologist Howard Carter. When Carter finally uncovers the hidden tomb of the Boy King, a mysterious tale of political betrayal emerges.

2008-03-07   4-12   Portland Taiko   The high energy and thundering sound of taiko (Japanese drums) are like a force of nature. Portland Taiko brings drama and artistry to this ancient art form, and in the process creates a strong beautiful voice for Asian America. This performance will include commentary by the performers on Taiko and Asian culture.

  When a King sends his three sons to find their brides, two return with fair ladies. The last returns with... A FROG?! This hip adaptation of a classic Russian tale is told by consummate storyteller David Gonzalez. Two outstanding musicians weave one of Prokofiev's classics with an original jazz-funk score, as David performs every role against a backdrop of stunning live video projection and moving images by painter Wassily Kandinsky. Filled with comic sparkle, The Frog Bride is a "ribbiting" coming-of-age story.
2008-03-31   7-12   Romeo and Juliet
(90 minutes, Two dates)
  In this critically acclaimed ninety-minute eleven-actor production of the classic text with a pulsing rock incidental score, Theatreworks takes Shakespeare’s language to the streets of a futuristic crumbling urban wasteland called Verona.
2008-04-01   2-6   Dr Dolittle   Inspired by the classic book, author (and World War I captain) Hugh Lofting reaches out to his son during wartime by writing a magical story about a kind-hearted doctor who can talk to the animals. When Doctor John Dolittle learns that a mysterious disease is afflicting the monkeys of Africa, he sets off on a musical adventure to come to the animals' aid.

2008-04-14   3-7   Ball in the House   Ball in the House is a tour de force of vocal sound from Boston. This five-man group will define and demonstrate their a cappella style, share its history through chants, spirituals, jazz, barbershop and doo wop. They will demonstrate their wide vocal range, close and well-blended harmonies and vocal percussion or “beatboxing.” They will also share technical tips like how the sound system is used to support and enhance the singers. Ball in the House’s message is that the arts are cool and they look to inspire and encourage kids to pursue their dreams and try out new things (and practice!)
2008-04-28   7-12   Mayhem Poets   Get ready for a verbal adventure as these vibrant poets take the stage, and present poetry like you’ve never heard it before. This accessible collective of young poets show how meter, rhyme, and verbal dexterity are not only the concerns of the poets students study in school, but also of contemporary slam performers.

His chamber ensemble of first-string dancing professionals, Taylor 2, introduces athleticism, humor and range of emotions found in Mr. Taylor's legendary, modern dance work.
